The San Gabriel River is a historic waterway in Los Angeles County, flowing from the San Gabriel Mountains to the Pacific Ocean between Long Beach and Seal Beach, and features one of the longest continuous multi-use corridors in the county, spanning over 35 miles and serving cyclists, pedestrians, hikers, and equestrians. In 2006, Los Angeles County released the San Gabriel River Corridor Master Plan, identifying 19 cities, many designated as equity priority communities, and outlining more than 130 enhancement projects, with Caltrans playing a key role in advancing bicyclist and pedestrian improvements along the corridor.
