STP-0377(008) Seismic Retrofit, Haleakala Hwy, 3 Bridges, Maui

The scope of work consists of seismic retrofit of the Waiale Gulch, Alae (Naalae Gulch), and Pulehu Gulch (Pohakuokala) Bridges. Improvements include removal of debris from the piers; wrapping the piers with carbon fiber, removal of a portion of the backfill from behind the abutments and backfilling with CLSM and tying the abutment to the CLSM backfill; replacement of the creep blocks at the bents; pier footing upgrades; installing pavement, pavement markers, and temporary erosion control measures; installing scour countermeasures near Alae Bridge Pier 1; and traffic control.
