Description
The purpose of this project is to utilize a “Complete Streets” design approach, aiming to enhance pedestrian safety, implement traffic calming measures and utilize landscaping and placemaking appurtenances to revitalize the area. The project is approximately 2,100 feet in length, beginning at the intersection of Arch Street and Whiting Street and continuing north to the intersection of Arch Street and Main Street. The project limits also encompass the Monroe Street and Arch Street intersection. The scope of work generally consists of the construction of new concrete sidewalks and sidewalk ramps, brick paver sidewalk and sidewalk ramps, curbing, proposed bump outs, new mid-block crossings, restriping, new signage, limited drainage improvements, brick paver banding, proposed ornamental street lighting, street trees and minor landscaping, new placemaking appurtenances, and traffic signal improvements at both the Arch Street and Monroe Street and Hart/Whiting at Arch intersection.
