Description

The Clear Creek Trail and Wheat Ridge Greenbelt Trail Signage Guidelines project is the culmination of a years-long planning process that involved the several jurisdictional entities and the consultant team. A concrete trail adjacent to Clear Creek currently runs from the west side of Golden in Jefferson County to the South Platte River Trail (SPRT) in Adams County. It is primarily an off-street trail, but there are some sections that are on-street and there are a few areas where the trail is not continuous or it does not appear continuous due to the lack of signage and wayfinding. Along this extent, the trail travels through four counties, eleven cities and towns, three recreational districts, and a state wildlife area. These jurisdictions identify this trail with various names. It is known as the Clear Creek Trail in Adams County, the City of Golden, and the City and County of Denver; the Clear Creek County Greenway in Clear Creek County; the Clear Creek Canyon Trail in Jefferson County; and the Wheat Ridge Greenbelt in the City of Wheat Ridge. The desire to create a singular name and identity for this trail arose. When built to the fullest extent, the Clear Creek Trail will be part of a trail system from Glenwood Springs to the Denver International Airport.
