We model discrete fractures and fracturing explicitly in continuum analysis. Fracture initiation, deformation, and propagation without re-meshing. Preexisting and new fractures. We calculate the dip, dip direction, and initial aperture of new fractures. Update the aperture of a fracture segment as the fracture deforms. Use continuum framework to incorporate 3D fracture distributions seamlessly.
