5 Point App, Inc. was created to help cancer patients cope with the extreme fatigue that comes with cancer/treatment, or cancer-related fatigue (CRF). Founder Ryan Smith, former lead acupuncturist in Perlmutter Cancer Center (NYU Langone), is certified in oncology acupuncture and specializes in complementary therapies for cancer patients. Our app aims to solve two persistent problems: 1. the lack of time faced by healthcare providers for the teaching of an effective CRF treatment, and 2. the difficulties surrounding data collection for self-management therapies. By creating an app that simultaneously teaches patients the acupressure protocols, provides reminders to encourage patient fidelity, and automates data collection, we could reduce the strain on healthcare professionals, improve patient outcomes, and facilitate cancer research.
