KRDO-TV channel 13 has been a part of the Southern Colorado community since September 21, 1953. The station was locally owned and operated until June 26, 2006 when it was sold by the Pikes Peak Broadcasting Company to the News-Press & Gazette Company of St. Joseph, Missouri. The Hoth family, which owned the Pikes Peak Broadcasting Company, chose to sell its stations to News-Press & Gazette because NPG is a family owned company that is committed to excellence in journalism and service to the communities in which it does business.
