Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the third most common cancer in the US, yet current standard-of-care is insufficient because the five-year survival rate is still around 20%. Abnormal calcium regulation has previously been suggested as an important driver for malignancy. Therefore, inhibition of calcium entry is a novel target for cancer treatment, yet no potential drugs have been produced or under development. Ciedon has produced antagonistic antibodies that specifically inhibit calcium entry into NSCLCs. Our goal will be to validate our antibodies for specificity towards NSCLCs vs. healthy cells and initial testing for their capacity to kill NSCLC tumor cells.
