Radio and Acoustic Tracking Devices-Brand Innovasea The USGS; Upper Midwest Environmental Sciences Center in La Crosse; Wisconsin; supporting the Midcontinent Region; is requesting the planned acquisition of radio and acoustic telemetry tracking devices for wildlife and aquatic species monitoring. This request supports the administration priorities of Protecting the Great Lakes from Invasive Carp; Public Safety/Security; and Human Health and Safety Needs by enabling precise tracking of fish; birds; and other wildlife to inform conservation and management strategies. IT components include acoustic transmitters and receivers that provide real-time or logged data on animal movement; behavior; and environmental conditions. Innovasea tags come in various sizes and frequencies e.g.; 69 kHz; 180 kHz; 307 kHz and can be equipped with sensors to monitor acceleration; predation events; and environmental parameters1. These devices are essential for understanding species migration; habitat use; and survival in support of UMESC’s research.
