Description
The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) requires contractor support to continue building a cohort of individuals with sickle cell disease (SCD) who have received gene therapy (GT) or hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) and to sustain long-term follow-up (LTFU) activities for enrolled participants. While both therapies are available, it has not been established which is safer, more durable, or most effective, nor have rigorous comparisons to untreated persons with SCD who have chosen not to undergo one of these treatments undertaken.
