Description
EROS Technical Support Services Definitive Contract Technical Support Services Definitive Contract for mission operations at Earth Resources Observation and Science Center. The Landsat program relies on the satellite ground station at EROS to safely fly and utilize the Landsat 7; 8; and 9 satellites. Additionally; the Landsat Next mission is a joint mission being formulated; implemented; and operated by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the Department of InteriorUnited States Geological Survey. LNext is a remote sensing satellite mission that will continue to acquire images of the Earth’s land surfaces; thereby continuing uninterrupted data to assist land managers and policy makers to make informed decisions about natural resources and the environment. The TSSC team provides the daily operations of the ground station and significant technical expertise; with government personnel providing oversight. The USGS EROS Center is to collect data and conduct scientific research that improves our understanding of a changing world. Data from remote sensing platforms including; radar; lidar and aerial photography as well as information about evaluation; land cover; and other aspects of the Earth’s land surfaces are also archived and distributed by EROS. Satellite operations to include schedule planning; command and control and orbital maneuvers are the responsibility of the Mission Operations Centers co-located at GSFC. Primary on-site responsibilities such as receiving; processing; archiving and distributing satellite images and other remotely sensed data are primary tasks carried out by EROS.
