Description
This requirement provides a Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Value Added Network (VAN) for electronic invoicing. EDI is a standards-based method for the electronic exchange of commercial data between the FAA and businesses such as FAA vendors also known as “trading partners.” The most widely used vehicle for EDI is a ‘Value Added Network’ (VAN) and is an important part of the overall electronic invoicing approach. Acquisition and implementation of a VAN allows FAA high volume vendors to send their invoices electronically to the VAN for processing. Once received, the data is then stored in an electronic mailbox until it is retrieved by the Department of Transportation (DOT)/FAA/ Enterprise Services Center (ESC) financial system known as Delphi.
