Description
1) Removal of current M5 mirror to increase overall beamline optical efficiency (one less reflection) and increase useable beamline floor space, and simplifying beamline optics.2) Reconfigure and relocate current DM8 diagnostic module on its own dedicated base frame.3) Confirm that DM8 Io mesh and screens can image M4C and M4D dithered beams.4) Replace current NEXAFS experimental station with a new design based upon a chamber similar to the Hard X-ray Photoemission Spectroscopy (HAXPES) station on SST-2.5) Introduce a new Support Stand for the 10,000-element detector, compatible with the existing soft x-ray optical path in conjunction with the new NEXAFS experimental chamber. These changes need to occur while ensuring that: all new components fit perfectly to atolerance within a few microns; the downstream beam path is unperturbed in normaloperation; the ultra high vacuum levels are maintained throughout the beamline.
