GIS Software Solutions and Development

In support to Goal 4 of the NOAA Strategic Plan, which addresses support to national Commerce and Transportation needs, the Marine Chart Division (MCD) manages (i) the national database of nautical charting and marine mapping information, (ii) the aggregation of information from external sources for database maintenance, (iii) the production of navigational products and services, and (iv) the distribution of digital chart products. The MCD directs the development of new nautical products and promotes, maintains communication with users, manages personnel and resources, fosters efficiency in operations to provide effective products and services to the marine public, and develops and authorizes changes in charting standards and specifications to meet national and international marine safety and transportation requirements.
