Description
The identity of each entity wishing to do business with the federal government or receive assistance from the federal government must be validated and receive a Unique Entity ID from SAM prior to its entering into a business relationship with the federal government. Entities awarded subcontracting actions from a prime contractor doing business with the Federal government are required to receive a UEI. Entities awarded Federal procurement and grants actions with limited exceptions are required to register in SAM which includes assignment of a UEI and additional entity information and assertions. The information from SAM is used throughout the government to include all aspects of the procurement and financial assistance processes. The General Services Administration’s (GSA) Integrated Award Environment (IAE) maintains a contract for Entity Validation Services.
