US Secret Service Police (USSSP) requirement is for (2) Terradyne Gurkha Multi-Purpose Vehicles (MPV) for use as a mobile ballistic shield and tactical platform to manage large scale protests while ensuring officer safety. The AMPV would provide superior ballistic and blast protection operational versatility for high threat urban and off-road environments. The vehicle can provide movable coverage, used for rapid insertion and extraction. Deploy 8-10 fully equipped officers while removing downed personnel and civilians from danger. Will be upfitted with specialized tools to manage crowds without resorting to lethal force. And act as a visual deterrent, its command presence potentially de-escalating threats before they materialize. Addition of the AMPV is a strategic resource that would directly enhance survivability, mission command, and rapid unit deployment, while providing multi-role functionality.
