Description
Definitive Contract for new HAWK Programmed Pyrolysis Instrument The Petroleum Geochemistry Research Lab;PGRL; Project conducts geochemistry research in support of energy resource assessments. The current HAWK programmed pyrolysis instrument is 15 years old and is near end-of-life. Although this instrument could last for another few years; it is possible that irreplaceable parts could fail at any moment. The HAWK provides critical data for energy resource assessments; over 3;000 sample analysis are run annually and are an invaluable screening tool to evaluate hydrocarbon-generating potential and thermal maturity of prospective source rocks. The HAWK quantifies the abundance of the various types of organic material present in a sample; which is critical to constrain the petroleum-generating potential of source rocks. The purchase price includes a computer and instrument software. Geochemistry data from the instrument are used by projects that work in support of Executive and Secretary’s Orders EO 14153; EO14154; EO14156; SO3417; SO3418; SO3422 focused on achieving American energy dominance.
