The USGS Earthquake Science Center; supporting the Southwest Region and Natural Hazards Mission Area is requesting the planned acquisition of steel plates for new large scale earthquake generation apparatus. This request supports earthquake hazard mitigation; supporting public safety. Plates; approximately 7 tons each; are the main components of the loading frame of the specialized 4 meter test apparatus. Purchase cost includes raw material; fabrication of plates; manufacturing of plates into required dimensions and shapes; and freight for delivery to ESC Earthquake Processes Laboratory
