Office of Coast Survey, Navigation Services Division, Navigation Response Branch requires a fully integrated and highly portable multibeam surveying suite of equipment; consisting of multibeam echosounder, integrated GNSS and INS positioning and orientation system, integrated surface sound speed sensor, associated antennas, cables, light-weight sonar mounting system, and all associated hardware necessary to mount the system on a vessel of opportunity. NRTs use the portable sonars primarily to conduct emergency response hydrographic survey operations from vessels of opportunity in areas that response with traditional Navigation Response Team vessels is not feasible (i.e. Caribbean or Pacific Islands, Alaska, or remote areas not accessible by roads).
