Advancing National Offshore Sand Inventory (NOSI) - National Planning and Program Implementation

National in scope. Two investments are proposed. The first includes atlas creation, probabilistic resource assessment methodologies, and analysis for co-located OCS sand and HMS deposits. This desktop analysis investigates geophysical targets likely to have restoration-quality sand and HMS. Results should reduce the number of costly additional surveys and geologic samples collected during reconnaissance for MMA and our stakeholders . The second would engage the state geological surveys for data retrieval, conditioning, and resampling; methodology development for HMS prospectivity mapping across the coastal plain and adjacent shelf; and/or creation of onshore-offshore geological maps.
