Description
The City of Seattle is seeking qualified architectural, engineering, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) services for renovations to the Amy Yee Tennis Center (AYTC) located in the Mount Baker/Rainier Valley neighborhood at 2000 Martin Luther King Jr Way S, Seattle, WA 98144. With 10 indoor courts and 6 outdoor courts, AYTC is the largest public tennis facility in the Puget Sound region, welcoming more than 100,000 visitors annually. The center is named after local tennis legend Amy Yee, who dedicated her life to teaching and expanding the sport. Seattle Parks and Recreation operates the facility in partnership with the United States Tennis Association (USTA). The indoor portion of AYTC offers year-round play, lessons, and tournaments. Programs and Services include a variety of tennis programs ranging from Youth lessons and camps to USTA-sanctioned tournaments for juniors, as well as adult lessons, private lessons, and indoor court rentals.Known for its well-maintained courts, welcoming atmosphere, and on-site pro shop, AYTC also serves as the administrative hub for Seattle’s public tennis network—making it a central location for both casual players and competitive matches. The proposed tennis center renovation project will upgrade aging building structures, mitigate water intrusion risk, and improve interior programming spaces, to ensure that the facility continues to be the central hub for public tennis activity for decades to come. A 2019 renovation feasibility study (see attachments) evaluated alternatives for retrofitting the building and was used as a basis for defining the scope of work for multiple improvement phases. Several upgrades have been completed, and the consultant will support prioritization of the remaining improvements. Priority improvements, in descending order, include: Upgrading structural tension rods Resolving water intrusion issues along the east wall Modifying the administrative area and mezzanine for pro shop and viewing area Resurfacing eight interior courts Enhancing overall aesthetics Community room improvements Qualifications are due no later than Response Submission Time on Response Submission Date .
