Description
The City of Chesapeake Office of Emergency Management, in an effort to ensure readiness when responding to emergencies and major disasters, is seeking bids from private industry (companies, businesses, and organizations) interested in supplying Meals Ready to Eat (MREs) for use during emergency events. These meals will support public safety operations and the well‑being of the citizens of the City of Chesapeake during times of need. The resulting contract(s) will be Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contracts, as the City is unable to determine the exact quantity of MREs that may be required. These contracts will assist the City in responding to emergencies, whether natural or man‑made, as defined in the Code of Virginia §44‑146.16 and Chesapeake City Code §2‑622. Pricing for MREs under the resulting contract(s) shall be available only prior to, during, and for a reasonable period after a declared emergency, as determined by the City.
