Description
Due to a recent fire in building 6418 at Moore Air Base, Texas, a wet fire suppression system is needed. Building 6418 was constructed in the early 1980s with no fire suppression initially. Contractor shall provide design/as-built drawings submittals and installation of a new retrofitted system. The system shall be a turnkey project encompassing everything needed to have a fully functioning fire suppression system. Solicitation documents are posted below. NOTE: For those wishing to attend the site visit, please send names of attendees to james.g.roloff@usda,gov. A valid drivers license or state ID is required. Amendment 1 is posted below. RFI: Does Building 6418 currently have an existing fire alarm panel/system that the sprinkler monitoring would tie into? If so, could you please provide the panel/system type, make/model, or any available details needed for a sprinkler monitoring quote? The fire panels are old and obsolete. They will be replaced at another time, but the new sprinkler system must be able to connect to a fire panel in the future. No monitoring is needed. The sign-in sheet for the site visit is posted below. Building drawings posted below. RFIs and responses posted below. Amendment 2 is posted below. It extends the closing date. Amendment 3 is posted below. It extends the closing date. Additional RFIs and responses posted below. Amendment 4 is posted below. There's a change to the response to RFI 6 posted here on August 17. The correct answer is as follows: 6) Please confirm if a CVPC/PEX fire suppression would be sufficient or the USDA prefers schedule 10 or schedule 40 Victaulic black iron piping? Or provide a specification with minimum standards for Moore Airfield that must be met regarding fire suppression piping? It is typical for local building codes and state codes to be of a lesser standard than what a federal installation requires. The statement of work indicates in accordance state and local codes and standards only opening the door for a CVPC system to be priced. The USDA prefers the use of Schedule 40 Victaulic black iron piping.
