Description
The District Attorney's Office seeks to identify qualified and accredited canine training organizations capable of providing a fully trained and certified facility, therapy, or courthouse dog for use in a legal office and courtroom environment. The selected provider will be responsible not only for delivering a dog that meets established professional certification standards, but also for delivering comprehensive training for both the designated primary dog handler and at least one backup handler. The certified dog-and-handler team will be deployed in trauma informed settings to support crime victims during interviews, court proceedings, meetings, and community outreach activities. Accordingly, the training organization must demonstrate expertise in preparing canine teams for sensitive legal environments, ensuring that handlers receive the skills and knowledge necessary to safely, ethically, and effectively integrate the dog into victim services operations and judicial processes.
