RFQ Traffic Fiber Repair Work

Response deadline
Sep 10, 2026
Due in 27 days
Date posted
Aug 13, 2026

Description

The City seeks contractors with the experience and equipment necessary to evaluate, diagnose, and repair issues within the City of Syracuse Traffic Signal System, with specific emphasis on the traffic fiber communication network. While many tasks will involve fiber‑optic infrastructure, the City is also interested in receiving additional services that augment its capabilities across broader system components, including traffic signal cabinets, communication hardware, layer‑2 switches, splice trays, patch panels, controllers, and other related field equipment used throughout the City’s signal network. Problems may range from straightforward issues, such as a damaged fiber cable in a conduit caused by construction, to more complex situations, such as communication loss between signal locations without a clear root cause. When necessary, City personnel will provide fiber routing maps, connection documentation, and other system information to support troubleshooting efforts. The contractor must have required tools and equipment, including bucket‑truck access and may require excavation equipment. Although the majority of work will involve the City’s fiber‑based communications infrastructure, tasks may extend to additional signal system maintenance, diagnostic work, and engineering activities as needed to restore or maintain reliable system operation.
