E-Waste Disposal & Certified Data Destruction

The Jersey City Public School District is seeking proposals from certified electronics recyclers to manage the disposition of our surplus technology equipment. We require a single vendor to manage the entire process: pick up the equipment from our facility, securely erase or physically destroy all data storage devices, process the hardware for recycling, and evaluate items for potential resale value. A complete list of our inventory is provided in the attachment. The selected vendor must provide a full-service solution. This includes on-site pickup and transport, drive sanitization compliant with industry security standards, official certificates of data destruction and recycling, and a clear net financial settlement combining any asset credit with service fees. QUALIFICATIONS Certified Electronics Recycling Specialist Demonstrated expertise in responsible end-of-life electronics processing, compliance, and material recovery. Skilled in high-volume e-waste triage, secure asset disposition, and environmental safety protocols. Industry Compliance & Certifications: Deep understanding of R2 (Responsible Recycling) and e-Stewards standards, OSHA workplace safety regulations, and state/federal hazardous waste compliance (EPA guidelines). Data Security & Sanitization: Proficient in NIST 800-88 compliant data destruction, physical drive shredding, and secure chain-of-custody tracking for sensitive educational and corporate assets. Material Sorting & Processing: Expert in identifying, testing, and dismantling diverse IT hardware—including Chromebooks, laptops, and desktop components—to maximize precious metal recovery (copper, aluminum, gold, cobalt) and circuit board value. Inventory & Asset Management: Strong track record in cataloging bulk e-waste intake, managing deprovisioned hardware logs, and harvesting reusable parts for secondary market refurbishment or component-level repair.
