Description
Overview Summary The aim of this project is to evaluate the effectiveness, reach, and impact of cancer survivorship programs and interventions supported by the Comprehensive Cancer Control Program. This evaluation will assess the extent to which survivorship initiatives improve the quality of life, health outcomes, and access to support services for cancer survivors. The project will identify gaps, barriers, and strengths in survivorship care delivery, with a focus on equity, sustainability, and alignment with the goals of the state’s Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan or program workplan. Findings will inform future program planning, partnership development, and evidence-based strategies to enhance survivorship care across the continuum. Background The aim of this evaluation is to systematically assess the implementation, effectiveness, and outcomes of cancer survivorship strategies supported by the Comprehensive Cancer Control Program, using the CDC’s Evaluation Framework as a guide. This evaluation will: • Engage key stakeholders including survivors, caregivers, healthcare providers, coalition members, and public health partners to ensure relevance and utility. • Describe survivorship programs and interventions in terms of their objectives, target populations, resources, and activities. • Focus the evaluation design to examine how and to what extent survivorship efforts improve health-related quality of life, access to follow-up care, and availability of community-based support services. • Gather credible evidence through a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, including surveys, focus groups, program records, and stakeholder interviews. • Justify conclusions by analyzing data in the context of program goals and state cancer control priorities, with attention to equity and disparities. • Ensure use and share lessons learned by disseminating findings through actionable reports, coalition briefings, and recommendations that inform program planning, policy advocacy, and sustainability of survivorship services. This evaluation will contribute to continuous improvement of survivorship programming and guide data-driven decisions to advance the quality of care and life for cancer survivors across Mississippi.
