Description

The City of Frederick (City) is seeking bids from qualified vendors to support a critical airfield maintenance initiative focused on enhancing safety, improving pavement longevity, and ensuring continued compliance with FAA standards. The project encompasses several key operational areas across the airfield, including Runway 12/30 and Taxiways B, C, and F. These surfaces experience regular aircraft traffic and environmental wear, making timely maintenance essential to preserving both structural integrity and operational reliability. The scope of work includes a comprehensive crack‑seal effort designed to remove deteriorated or failed sealant, clean and prepare cracks through mechanical routing or compressed air, and install new sealant that meets FAA Specification P‑605. This work will help protect pavement from water infiltration and further degradation while ensuring that surfaces remain safe for daily operational demands. Contractors will also be responsible for maintaining clean pavement edges and performing all work with appropriate care to avoid damage to adjacent surfaces. In addition, the project includes targeted pavement marking touch‑ups. Vendors will be expected to clean existing markings, apply fresh material in accordance with FAA Paint Specification 620, and coordinate closely with airport management to ensure full compliance with AC 150/5340‑1. This component of the project is essential not only for safety and visibility but also for upholding the professional appearance and regulatory standing of the airport.
