Description
As a Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HGMP) project, the grant funding provides for wind protection project for traffic lights at nine (9) intersections located in Pinellas County, Florida. The HMGP project scope of work proposes to upgrade the existing span wires with mast arms rated for hurricane wind and rated for large and small impact resistance per Florida Building Code. Protection shall be afforded to the traffic signals by the increased strength of the mast arm structure. Currently, the existing intersections have traffic lights supported by concrete or wooden poles and hung on span wires. The project shall provide protection against 158 MPH winds in accordance with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) standards. Activities shall be implemented using applicable codes and best practices and shall be completed in strict compliance with Federal, State and Local applicable Rules and Regulations. The construction project involves the installation of mast arms and a traffic controller cabinet, please see Appendix 6 - Work Order Project List and Project Location Map for the nine (9) intersection locations.
