SALE ADVERTISEMENT East Woody 26/27 Timber Sale The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the sale of timber. This sale is the first thinning of 168.3 acres of 20-25-year-old planted slash pine and 6.7 acres of natural pine on Tiger Bay State Forest in Volusia County, Florida (see attached maps). Timber to be removed in the plantation will include every third row and an operator selection of trees in the remaining rows to reach the target basal area of 70 square feet per acre. In the natural pine stand new rows will be cut 30 feet apart and the width of the new rows will not exceed 20 feet. In the remaining rows an operator selection of trees is needed to reach the target basal area of 70 square feet per acre. The operator selection of trees will be diseased, damaged, forked, suppressed, or trees approved by the Forester-in-Charge to meet the target basal area. Logging decks and skid trails must be approved by the Forester-in-Charge. The boundaries will be roads, wetlands, obvious timber type changes, state forest boundaries, and fire lines. The estimated volume to be removed is 8,637 tons of pine pulpwood and better. This will be an eighteen (18) month contract.
