Law Enforcement K9 purchase and Maintenance Training Services

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office is located in San Mateo County along the peninsula in the Bay Area. Our K9 Unit consists of 13 dual purpose patrol dogs (German Shepherds), 1 single purpose tracking dog (Bloodhound), 1 single purpose narcotics detection dog (German Shepherd), 1 narcotics/currency detection dog (German Shorthaired Pointer) and 3 emotional support dogs (Goldendoodles). Scope of Work: The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office is looking for a maintenance trainer to facilitate two monthly trainings, five hours each day, on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. The length of the contract would be two years. The maintenance trainings would cover obedience, searching, detection and handler tactics. The trainings would ensure compliance with P.O.S.T. standards and annual qualifications. The trainings would focus on scenario based trainings to increase stress levels on handlers and decision making skills. Trainings would consist of debriefs to discuss the tactics used decisions made. In addition to the maintenance trainings, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office K9 Unit would like to contract with the trainer for the purchase of dual and single purpose dogs over the life of the contract. The Sheriff's Office has two immediate openings and would require the purchase of dogs to fill those vacancies, with the possibility of additional dogs purchase in the near future. The price of the contract would be broken down with a cost of training per handler/dog team. The Sheriff's Office would be charged for the number of handlers/dogs in attendance at each training.
