Description

Purpose: The purpose of the IIG Program is to promote infill housing development by providing financial assistance for Capital Improvement Projects that are an integral part of, or necessary to facilitate the development of, a Qualifying Infill Project or a Qualifying Infill Area. This Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) will provide grants to for-profit or nonprofit developers, localities, or public agencies for Capital Improvement Projects in support of Qualifying Infill Projects (QIPs) or Qualifying Infill Areas (QIAs). To be eligible for funding, a Capital Improvement Project must be an integral part of, or necessary for the development of either a Qualifying Infill Project or housing designated within a Qualifying Infill Area. Eligible costs include the construction, rehabilitation, demolition, relocation, preservation, and acquisition of infrastructure. IIG is grant assistance, available as gap funding for infrastructure improvements necessary for specific residential or mixed-use infill development projects or areas. Funds will be allocated through a competitive process, based on the merits of the individual Infill Projects and Areas. Application selection criteria includes project readiness, affordability, density, access to transit, proximity to amenities, leveraged funding commitments, local support, and consistency with regional plans. The IIG program was established by Chapter 2 of Part 12 of Division 31 commencing with HSC section 53545.12.
