Description
The San Mateo County (SMC) Department of Parks is here to provide the public with recreational opportunities in a safe and effective manner, and to protect and enhance the natural resources of the County. SMC Parks operate 24 separate parks, encompassing over 16,000 acres, and 190 miles of county and local trails. Parks are located throughout the County and represent a wide variety of natural settings including a coastside marine reserve, a bayside recreational area, coastal mountain woodland areas, and urban site. Approximately 3 million visitors utilize the various trails and parks maintained by SMC. Furthermore, to improve access and public safety, SMC Parks manages hazard trees located near high use area and critical infrastructure. Multiple trees have been identified on Parks land for hazard tree mitigation. Safely mitigating the hazard trees, while avoiding surrounding targets, such as visitors, vehicles, natural resources, and infrastructure, is critical to establishing a successful project. The hazard trees are located in the Kings Mountain Archery (KMA) course in Huddart County Park, Woodside, CA. A total of four (4) trees are being requested for hazard tree mitigation, this includes three (3) tree removals and one (1) pruning. Additionally, woody debris and fuel management is requested for the logs and woody debris along the KMA course.
