Description
SACOG is seeking qualified firms to provide technical assistance that is focused on accelerating the development and construction of the trail network. The goal of this project is to continue the Trail Technical Assistance Program that launched in 2024 with the goal of offering high-quality, engineering-focused technical assistance to trail implementers throughout the SACOG region. Building on the successes of the Trail Technical Assistance Pilot, this assistance will be available to any agency implementing or planning to implement a trail project, as outlined in Regional Trail Implementation Strategy. Technical assistance may look different for each agency and will be tailored to their specific needs. Examples of technical assistance could include grant application preparation, cost estimates, high level design support, project ideation, developing a community engagement strategy, planning concept development, etc. Interested firms should be able to demonstrate experience with: Implementation of trail infrastructure, including planning, design, or construction; A strong understanding of the complexities associated with implementation that involves multiple regulatory agencies, tribes, railroad constraints, landowners, and jurisdictional boundaries; and Strong and demonstrated technical assistance skills including successful grant writing, active transportation facility planning and design, and community engagement (planning and strategizing). Consultants should demonstrate examples of work done in disinvested communities and the results that may have come from developing implementation strategies or any of the technical assistance examples listed above. The ideal team will demonstrate a multidisciplinary approach, have broad depth of knowledge in active transportation planning and implementation strategies, understanding of the challenges and opportunities of trails planning, design, and implementation, an understanding of prioritization methodologies, and a strong background in technical assistance.
