Description

Purpose: AmeriCorps is a national service program that provides opportunities for Americans each year to serve their country as AmeriCorps members by engaging in intensive results-driven service that addresses community problems. An AmeriCorps member is an individual who engages in community service through an approved national service position. AmeriCorps members are recruited, trained, supervised, and managed by the funded organization. The 2021 AmeriCorps State Funding Opportunity awards AmeriCorps grants to eligible community partnerships that will engage AmeriCorps members in evidence-informed or evidence-based interventions/practices (see Mandatory Supplemental Guidance ) to address state and local community problems. An AmeriCorps member is an individual who engages in community service through an approved national service position. Members may receive a living allowance and other benefits while serving. Upon successful completion of their service, members earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award from the National Service Trust that members can use to pay for higher education expenses or apply to qualified student loans. Eligible Applicants: The following non-federal entities (as defined in 2 CFR §200.69) who are registered in System for Award Management (SAM) are eligible to apply: Nonprofit organizations (2 CFR §200.70) Institutions of higher education(2 CFR §200.55) Local government/public agencies (2 CFR §200.64) State government agencies (2 CFR §200.90) Indian Tribes within the state of California (2 CFR §200.54) Eligible Geographies: Only applicants that propose to operate within California are eligible to apply. Matching Funding: A first-time successful applicant is required to provide a single overall match of 24 percent for the first three-year funding period. Starting with year four, the match requirement gradually increases every year to 50 percent by year ten, according to minimum overall share chart found in 45 CFR § 2521.60.
