Multi-Use Trails Applications for FY2027 Recreational Trails Program Call for Projects The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) announces that the FY2027 Multi-Use Trails application period will be open from August 19 through October 30, 2026. DOT&PF administers Alaska’s Federal Highway Administration Recreational Trails Program (RTP) funds that support the Multi-Use Trails and Snowtrails programs. This notice applies only to the Multi-Use Trails Program, a competitive, reimbursable matching-grant program supporting eligible recreational trail maintenance and development, trail-related facilities, and trail safety and education projects. The Multi-Use Trails Program may reimburse up to 90 percent of eligible project costs. Award recipients are responsible for providing the remaining 10 percent as eligible non-federal match. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, state agencies, local governments, federal agencies, Native corporations, and Tribal governments. The application is available only through Submittable during the open application period. Applicants must use Submittable to view, complete, and submit the application and required materials. Applicant Training DOT&PF will hold an online applicant training session “Multi-Use Trails Grant Application Training” on September 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Alaska Time. Important Deadlines Applicants must post the required local public notice no later than September 29, 2026 . A copy of the notice, along with documentation showing where and when it was posted, must be submitted to DOT&PF at dot.rtp@alaska.gov by September 29, 2026. Completed applications must be submitted through Submittable no later than 11:59 p.m. Alaska Time on October 30, 2026 . Applications submitted by email will not be accepted.
