Description
9 July, 2026 The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is holding an open house public meeting in Anaktuvuk Pass, Alaska at the Anaktuvuk Pass Community Center on July 15, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. Community Time Location Anaktuvuk Pass Wednesday, July 15 th , 11:00 am – 1:00 pm Anaktuvuk Pass This meeting is intended to allow the public an opportunity to provide information related to public access on lands that were previously withdrawn under PLO 5150, and that have been conveyed to the State of Alaska as part of the State’s remaining land entitlement under the Alaska Statehood Act. These lands are located along portions of the Dalton Highway Corridor (DHC) in northern Alaska between the Yukon River and the North Slope Borough. As a result of the land transfer from the BLM to the State of Alaska on 5 May 2026, management authority on these lands has also transferred to the State. All lands within the DHC are therefore subject to motorized-use restrictions under AS 19.40.210 . State lands outside of the DHC, south of the North Slope Special Use Area, remain subject to access provisions on general state land 11 AAC 96.020 and 11 AAC 96.025. The State recognizes that the conveyance of land to the State of Alaska will impact how these lands are accessed and used. These changes present both challenges and opportunities for land managers and for the public. The State has identified impacts to access and harvest under the federal subsistence program as an issue to be addressed, as well as access to adjacent state, federal, and Alaska Native Corporation land more generally. The State is engaging the public to identity facilities, access roads, or easements that may be necessary to access adjacent Federal lands, Alaska Native corporation lands, and Native allotments, pursuant to existing authority to authorize easements under Alaska Statute (AS) 19.40.210. Please come to this meeting to discuss how you access these lands, areas and locations where important access exists, and issues related to access on state lands in and adjacent to the DHC.
