Petersburg Borough Class III Municipal Solid Waste Landfill (MSWLF) and Biosolids Treatment Facility, Petersburg, AK The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) proposes to issue Solid Waste Disposal Permit No. SW3CP002-30, to Petersburg Borough, to operate a Class III Municipal Solid Waste Landfill (MSWLF) and a Biosolids Treatment Facility. Applicant Information : Landowner: Petersburg Borough Landfill/Facility Operator: Petersburg Borough Sanitation/Peterburg Borough Wastewater Utility Location: Petersburg, AK Project Description : Petersburg Borough has applied for a comprehensive permit for operation of a class III MSWLF and a biosolids treatment facility. The facility will be operated by the borough of Petersburg. The 40 acre landfill site is being used as a trench and fill landfill allowing for the disposal of C&D, Inert, Municipal, and Sewage Solids. The Petersburg Borough Wastewater Utility will treat biosolids using either the aerated turned pile or the aerated static pile composting method. The facility will treat approximately 40 tons of sewage solids per year. Both facilities serve the city and borough of Petersburg and the 3,394 residents.
