State of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Notice to Begin Engineering and Environmental Studies & Public Open House Valdez Mineral Creek Loop Road Resurfacing & Port Valdez – Frontal Valdez Arm Watershed State Project Numbers NFHWY01114 & NFHWY00950 Valdez Mineral Creek Loop Road Resurfacing Project Number NFHWY01114 This project will focus on repaving and striping Mineral Creek Loop Road. Project activities will also include drainage improvements and replacement of signage. Port Valdez – Frontal Valdez Arm Watershed Project Number NFHWY00950 This project will replace eight fish passage culverts along Mineral Creek Loop Road and the Richardson Highway. Construction of both projects is currently planned for the summer 2027 season. Please join us for a public meeting to discuss the design, construction, and traffic control impacts of the Valdez Mineral Creek Loop Road Resurfacing and the Port Valdez – Frontal Valdez Arm Watershed projects. Tuesday, August 25, 2026 5:00 – 7:00 pm Valdez Convention & Civic Center Ballroom A 314 Clifton Drive PO Box 1849 Valdez, Alaska 99686 DOT&PF is currently working on conceptual design, engineering, and environmental studies and requests information and comments on resources in the project area that may be affected including historic properties, archaeological sites, wetlands, and floodplain encroachment. The following Executive Orders (EO) apply: EO 11990, Notice of Wetland Involvement EO 11593, Protection and Enhancement of the Cultural Environment EO 11988, Floodplain Management EO 13112, Invasive Species Project staff will be in attendance and available to answer questions. All public comments received will be recorded, transcribed, become a part of the public record, and may be subject to Freedom of Information Act requests.
