State of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Notice to Begin Engineering and Engineering Studies/Request for Public Comments Denali Highway MP 117.8 Revetment Project Number NFHWY01249 The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is soliciting comments on the proposed installation of a riprap revetment along the Denali Highway near Mile point 117.8 (Mile post 118.4) and the Nenana River (Figure 1) to prevent further erosion. The proposed project activities include riprap placement, riverbank restoration, and vegetation clearing and grubbing. The Panorama Mountain #1, Pit No. 9 (MS 52-2-046-2) near MP 216.5 on the Parks Highway and MP 118 Pit (MS 52-2-032-2) on the Denali Highway material sites will be made available for construction of this project (Figures 1-2). We are currently working on conceptual designs, engineering, and environmental studies. Construction is currently planned for spring 2027. DOT&PF requests information and comments on resources in the project aera that may be affected including historic properties, archaeological sites, wetlands, and floodplains.
