Description
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (Department), Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation, requires the services of a Contractor to conduct surveys of mine openings (portals, shafts, cropfalls, etc.) and structures (bridges, culverts, buildings, etc.) for habitation of federally and state listed threatened and endangered bat species including but not limited to Indiana Bats and Northern Long-eared Bats. Bat surveys are typically performed in abandoned mine openings located in surface and underground mine areas. These areas present hazards including, but not limited to, steep high walls, hazardous water bodies, unstable ground, mine openings, and the potential for dangerous mine gasses. Questions concerning the technical aspects of the Specifications should be directed to Vince Brinkmeyer, P.G., at 717.783.9160 or vbrinkmeye@pa.gov. Questions concerning the contracting or bidding procedures should be directed to Lizzy Michel at 717.783.2267 or emichel@pa.gov.
