Description
Funds for this federally funded project are authorized by Victim of Crime Act (VOCA) Victim Assistance formula grant. The primary goal of these funds are to improve the treatment of victims of crime by providing victims with the assistance, support, and services necessary to aid their restoration and healing after a criminal act. This federal grant supports community-based victim assistance programs throughout the state each year. OAIV provides subgrants to local community-based organizations and public agencies that provide services directly to victims. Funds are also used to address emerging needs, gaps in services, and training of victim service advocates. Traditionally, these funds have been used to provide subgrants to the following: local community-based organizations, universities, tribal and public agencies that provide services directly to victims. Direct assistance to crime victims shall include but not be limited to: crisis counseling, telephone and onsite information and referrals, criminal justice support and advocacy, shelter, therapy, and additional assistance.
